outlook/word attachments

we have a client that is having trouble with outlook. when she opens a
word attachment (doc file) it takes about 3 minutes to open unless she
uses ctrl+alt+delete and then opens task manager, it comes right up
when she exits task manager. she also has some slow typing problems.
she is running win 2k pro with office xp pro.
