Seems that, if SMTP Authentication is turned on and the "remember
password" checkbox is unchecked, that Outlook XP first tries an un-
authenticated SMTP connection. Then when that fails it prompts the user
for the password and tries a second, authenticated, connection.
Can anyone confirm or deny this?
Is there any way to turn off this behavior and just have Outlook wait
for the password from the user before attempting to connect?
Thanks,
