outlook xp contacts

I want to use my contacts as an address book, but when I
go to properties to tick the box to use the contacts list
as my address book, the box is "greyed out"

You may need to add the Outlook Address Book - go to Tools->Email
Accounts->Directories->View or Change. If you do not have the OAB service
listed, back up one step and add it. Okay out and then shut down and
restart Outlook.
