The user creates an email in Outlook 2007 and has the replies redirected to a
different user. If a user uses Outlook XP to reply to the email, Outlook XP
crashes. It doesn't crash when replying with Outlook 2007.
FYI: There is Office XP. There is no Outlook XP. Each component inside
the Office XP suite is labeled a 2002 version, so it is Outlook 2002.
Have the Outlook 2002 user load it in its safe mode:
outlook.exe /safe
This loads Outlook but without loading any of the enabled add-ons or COM
plug-ins. If the problem goes away, the problem is with an add-on or
COM plug-in. To troubleshoot, disable all add-ons and COM plug-ins that
are listed in Outlook's config. Then unload and restart Outlook in its
normal mode. If the problem remains, it is with a COM plug-in (since
some may not be listed to let you disable them). At that point, you'll
have to go into Add/Remove Programs to get rid of all the add-ons and
extensions (COM plug-ins) that were installed to Outlook. If disabling
all the listed add-ons and COM plug-ins removes the problem then one of
those you disable is causing the problem. Enable one at a time, restart
Outlook, and retest. When the problem reappears, the just prior
reenabled object is the culprit. When looking at the list of add-ons
and COM plug-ins, first target the non-Microsoft ones and those that are
more likely to be from single-author sources instead of commercialware.
