Outlook XP stopped displaying new emails in the Inbox

Have used Outlook XP for some time without problems.

After I explores options/setings, Outlook appears to be
receiving emails (the counter next to the Inbox folder is
creaping up)but the emails no longer appear in the Inbox
list in the right hand panel.

Any sugestions?
