Outlook XP unable to display graphics Red X placeholders

Windows XP SP2

Embedded graphics from HTML mail started becoming "Red X" for one Outlook XP
SP3 user regardless of senders (internal or Internet), thus not viewable.
Saving those pictures from "Red X" placeholders always work.

Graphics attachments are okay

Have checked the settings of section "Multimedia" of IE6 browser, and all
individual settings are checked incl "Show Picture"

Thanks for any suggestion to fix this problem.

Is there any relevant setting in the client's Outlook files in
"..Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook" folder?

Very tempted to use "Restore Defaults" from IE browser
Tools.Options.Advanced.Internet Options, but unsure of any negative
side-effects.
Should "Restore Defaults" be used? What registry hive saves these custom
settings for later restore?

Thanks

Hong

Had this same problem with a user's machine. Ended up clearing
c:\documents and settings\username\local settings\temporary internet
files\olk197 and then when I next went to the message, it must have
downloaded and cached locally again. Problem solved. I check on my
machine and I don't have an olk197 directory but do have a couple of
olk directories that end with different letters/numbers

Good Luck,

you can delete the olk* folders - outlook will create a new securetemp
folder when you open an attachment.
