when i am typing emails off line my dial up box comes up
constantly. sometimes i must cancel 20 times before it
will stop. It will still come back up in a couple
minutes. how do i stop this nuisance?

Do you perhaps have a hyperlink in your signature? If you have a hyperlink
in a message, it can initiate dial up.
