Ok i have a laptop runnig vista premium that i have install office 2007 sp2
which is part of Enterprise 2007. I have this laptop setup to get my e-mail
from my home acount which uses a pop account thru cox cable i dont have the
messages deleted from there server so i can still get them on my home
desktop. I use my laptop at work for different things from time to time. I
connect to the web using a guest gate from work via wireless access. I have
no problems get my emails in but cant send from the laptop. the cable company
say that the IT dept has something blocked that stops it from going out. But
the IT dept say thery have nothing blocked. Could i have something set wrong
inside the laprtop? any help would be welcome as i cant get any from either
other source.

Sounds like SMTP authentication is not correctly set up. Is there an error
message associated with not sending? What does it say?

Nope there is no error mesage it just goes to the outbox and the send action never completes

When you view the send/receive progress, there is a tab that will display
error messages. That is empty?

action never completes

that is correct. on the task tab it says sending is complete but it never
completes it. The test mesage just stays in the outbox the progress say
complete and the bar is fully green but it never sends

Have you verified your SMPT settings with your email provider to ensure they
are correct? Usually you need to supply the password, usually the same as
for your POP server.

Are you using a different ISP at home than at work? It's very likely and
since work is where you're having the issue, I would verify the settings to
make sure.

stmp auyhentication since my isp does not support it. thanks for all the

Your ISP doesn't have SMTP authentication?
