Outlook2007 won't sync appointment notes to WM5 PPC

T

Trident18

I am in desperate need of seeing the notes from my appointments on my PC on
my PPC. I've verified that when I create a note on the PPC, it is synced to
the PC. But if I alter or create any note on my PC, it will not
sync/transfer to the PPC. All this using Activesync 4.2.

I've uninstalled my PPC PIM and reinstalled it; tried to sync with just
Pocket Outlook installed [no 3rd party PIM] and I'm working on trying a
second PIM, but since I'm not seeing the correct behavior from PO, I doubt
that a different PIM is going to work.

Curiously, it all worked fine when I had an earlier PPC running WM2003SE and
Activesync 3.8.

Did you reinstall ActiveSync 4.2 after installing Outlook 2007?

Actually, I've had Outlook2007 installed for a few months and just installed
A/S4.2 last week.

You could give ActiveSync 4.1 a try?

I thought your last post was interesting since I did have to reinstall office
(because of a bad MS Update) last week. So I reinstalled A/S4.2 last night.
Same results.
I was thinking about trying a downgrade to 4.1 when I read this:
Question Subject: synchronizing to windows mobile 5 from outlook 2007
beta problem 6/14/2006 3:28 PM PST

By: Heero139 In: microsoft.public.outlook.general

everything works fine when i sync between my axim x51v and outlook 2007, but
since i started using 2007 beta i cant get task notes to synchronize. If i
make notes in a task on my axim, then synchronize, it shows up in outlook,
but if i edit or create tasks with notes on outlook, it shows up empty on my
axim. I'm using windows mobile 5, activesync 4.1, and outlook 2007 beta

is there some kind of compatibility issue between 2007 and wm5? cause it
always worked fine with outlook 2003.

Believe it or not, I didn't write that post. There are a few others that
are similar, but this one is almost identical.
I think the issue is an incompatability between Office2007 and WM5.

There are no incompatibility issues that I am aware of. In almost all
cases that users had trouble with ActiveSync, reinstalling it solved
them. I really would suggest to downgrade to 4.1 and give that a try.

I've spent a while on this.
I tried to find a copy of 4.1 (since I had originally installed the 4.2
beta) but only found a newer build of 4.2. Installed that (after deleting all
sync files and relationships) and found no change- other than some other
syncing issues that I eventually resolved.

I'm extremely close to uninstalling Office 2007 (as much as I like it).
Another suggestion was to downgrade A/S to 3.8. I'm trying that now.

If you cannot get it to work, please send me an email summarizing the
issue (including which device you have) and describing what you tried.
I'll submit it to Microsoft so that they can look into this. You can get

For the record:
I uninstalled Office2007 and reinstalled Office2003 and everything is right
with the world. Really a shame- I love the look and features of MSO2K7. But
that will have to be fixed before I pay a dime for it.

I'll send details via email in the future.

I have the same issue with my ppc6700 sprint phone. I almost missed a
job interview because I had the notes in my calendar and then when I
was looking for the building and suite number they were gone. I'm
going to try the roll back to 3.8 to see if it matters, then i'll
probably try every other version of a/s i can find. Right now I'm on
4.2 as well. I'll report back later.
