Outlooks 2007 periodically hangs or stalls while typing a message

M

Mark A. Wilson

I have been trying to figure out what parameter might be responsible for
outlook periodically (as in every 10-15 seconds) hanging, or stalling while I
type a message - the display hangs, I wind up typing ahead, then I have to
wait for it to catch up to fix my typing errors, which is very irritating.
This does not happen anywhere else on this brand new DELL 640m high end XP
pro Office 2007 PC, only in Outlook. Is this an outlook bug or a parameter?
I have been turning off things like the Norton virus detectors and so forth,
trying to find a way to fix it. All the hardware and software diagnostics
say 'OK' and all the up0dates are applied to everything. Any ideas? Thanks!

"Dell" is the keyword here. These machines come with "OutlookAddin" (by
Cyberlink) pre-installed. Remove it and your performance will be back.

Roady, This took care of the problem. THANK YOU!!
Are their any impacts to deleting the add-in?

You're welcome! :)

The main impact is that Outlook works again ;-)

In Outlook 2003, I had the same problem, but not on a Dell and without that
add-in. After I turned off the Outlook feature "Use autocorrect when Word
isn't the email editor", my problem went away.
