outook 2003 crashing

Brand new DELL LatD600 with Office 2003 on XPpro. Setup
POP3 email normally, it tested fine, and then I bring up
OUTLOOK itself and it crashes every single time. The
failure is outlook.exe and hawkex.dll. I recreated the
profile and used a new datafile still no good. This is a
brand new machine -- I can't believe this!

Any ideas?

Have you tried going to Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs | Microsoft
Office 2003 and having it do a Repair install?

Tried it along with latest updates and no good.
I did Detect and Repair. Is Reinstall worth doing?

Any other ideas?

McAfee installed I assume? The problem isn't with Outlook. See if there is
an update available at McAfee or disable the add-in in Tools-> Options-> tab
Other-> button Advanced Email Options...

OK got it working. The thing that did it?????
Updating the McAffee Virus scanner package.
For whatever reason...once I updated it, Outlook 2003
works fine. Go figure.
