Ouutlook 2007 slow sending emails

When I try to send emails with attachement (especially over 300K) it will sit
in the outbox seemly forever, until I delete it. Every once in a while it
will successfully send the file after being in the outbox for a very long
time. This started about a week ago and I can't think of anything that I've
added or downloaded that would cause this. I downloaded and installed MS
Office SP2, no joy. I also tried running Outlook in safe mode, same problem.
This is the current configuration of my system:

-Windows XP Professional version 5.1 SP3
-MS Office Standard 2007 SP 2
-Dell 1525 Inspiron 4g Memory
