My situation is this: I have an end-user client that recently went over 2GB
for his .pst with Outlook 2000. We have tried the Oversized PST and OST Crop
Tool (Q296088). However, when this completed, his .pst would still not open.
Outlook suggested that we run the Inbox Repair Utility. After running the
Inbox Repair Utility, the end-user can now open his Outlook again. However,
he has lost his saved email addresses for his contacts.
I am looking for the best solution to resolve this issue for the customer.
He is willing to upgrade to a newer MS Office version if this would help.
We made a backup of his oversized .pst file from before using the Oversized
PST and OST Crop Tool and the Inbox Repair Utility. We also have a backup of
his .pst from before it reached 2GB, but it is a couple of weeks old.
Is there a way to convert his oversized .pst to Unicode? If we could do
this, I might be able to upgrade his office, then open the new Unicode format
..pst. Will this work?
Please advise and thank you in advance for your assistance.
