over type instead of insert

Another weird one. On several of the systems in my
office. Running XP PRO w/ either XP office SB or XP
office pro. Intermittantly when you are typeing/composing
a document and you arrow key or mouse click the cursor
back to a location in the document because you want to
add some text to what you have already typed. It will
start over typing instead of inserting the text. If it
starts this over type you basicly have to retype the
whole document from that point on. This an extreme
anoyance and I need to know how to stop it from doing
this.

Hi

Sounds like you may be pressing the 'Inser' button on your keyboard by
accident, which would have this effect.

You can also activate this function by accident by hitting on a little tab
on your screen just below the bottom of the page but once again, I don't
know its name in English (perhaps 'retype')

This tab is next to the language icon which Word has loaded.

Hope this is all it is.

This is usually a result of pressing the Insert key inadvertently.
