Overdue Indicator not superceded by Complete Indicator

Occasionally, users end up with tasks that are simultaneously designated as
"Overdue" and "Complete". Does anyone know why this occurs? Once a task is
completed, the "overdue" flag should go away shouldn't it? This is resulting
in team members getting alerts on overdue tasks on closed projects and we
can't figure out how to stop them. I have tried "republishing".

We have the same issue where resources are sent overdue e-mails for projects
that are 100% complete. This does not happen for all projects - just some of
them. Have you been able to resolve this issue?

No, we have not resolved it and it is really aggravating to those users who
are signed up for alerts. I was on the phone with Microsoft on another issue
and mentioned it briefly in the event it was a known bug, but the support
person suggested that I would need to be able to duplicate it. Well, I have
no idea why these tasks are "different" and have no idea how to duplicate it.
Do you?

I am not sure how to duplicate it, but we have a couple of projects that send
out the notification every day. I have made sure all tasks are 100%,
rebublished and we still get the notification mails.

Terry:

Although it's easy to mistake the two, the system generates notifications on
assignments, not tasks. These are distinctly different physically and
conceptually. Perhaps you created assignment orphans in the system by not
properly closing out tasks before deleting them? Or, perhaps a PM marked a
task complete in Project, but failed to republish the assignments associated
with the task to Project Web Access, thus leaving behind incomplete
assignment records.

Gary, so can you tell me how to fix it? If this is the case then we
definitely have some orphaned assignments, so how do you properly close out a
task before deleting it? I have already tried all of the republishing tricks
I know of.

Tricia:

If they're associated with a project that still belongs in the database,
then you can save the project as an XML file, delete the original on the
server, and import it back to the server using the Import wizard. You may
need to preserve task level enterprise field data into local fields before
you do this. After importing, you must use the republish feature.
