Overlapping lines of text

When selecting and replacing text in Word (2008), the text I am replacing
frequently does not disappear when I start typing new text. Both the new and
"replaced" text show up in an overlapping mess. I have to scroll my page so
the text area I am working in is off the screen and then scroll back, at
which point, the new text is properly presented on screen. Solutions?

Hello Brighton -

I'm afraid "Word (2008)" really doesn't disclose much so let's start with
the basics :)

Make sure you have Office fully updated ‹ 12.1.2 is the current build.

Make sure you have your version of OS X completely updated as well ‹ 10.4.11
if running Tiger, 10.5.4 if running Leopard. You might also check to see if
there are any Hardware or Firmware updates for your type of Mac:

http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/

If the problem persists once you're certain everything is current you'll be
in a better position to determine what else may need to be done.

Then the next questions is: Does this happen in one or more *specific*
documents or *all* documents -- If you create a new blank doc, type some
content then select & retype, for example?

Are the problem docs ones you've created yourself or were they received from
other sources? If from others, Mac or PC? What version of Word was used?

Also, are you using Track Changes in the docs where this is happening?

What type & config is your Mac?

I just tried to create/force the problem and, of course, I couldn't. I do
know that the last time this happened I tried to paste text from a PC Word
2003 work document (not mine) into a table (my original), replacing some
selected text. I do remember the problem happening many times over the last
few months.

Never have used Track Changes
