override keyboard shortcuts in Word 2007

I am used to using keyboard shortcuts such as ALT-A, etc. to add French
accents in Word. With Word 2007 it appears that many of my existing
keyboard shortcuts have been taken over by new shortcuts that are
preconfigured in Word. It is possible to override some of these or all of
the new keyboard shortcuts so that I can continue to use the ones that I
have been using since Office 97?
