OverWrite Published Project & maintain link to PWA site

On our 1st test of Project Server I have pretty much made a mess of the
published project, so much so that I think the schedule file is corrupt.
We have gone back to using Project on a regular .mpp file type useage. Now
We are back on track and I want to overwrite the old published version with
the new .mpp file version.
I would just create a new published schedule but we have kept using the PWA
sharepoint site and it is very detailed having many published documents,
risks, discussions ect...
I want to publish and overwrite the old vesrion of the schedule and
maintain the proper link to the sharepoint site. To note, we have not linked
any tasks between the old (corrupt) version and the existing (detailed)
Sharepoint site.
Any help we be greatly appreciated.

I am sorry old school, but you will not be able to overwrite your Project
Server project with the mpp file. You will have to manually update your
Project Server Project to reflect the mpp file.

Thanks guys I will check out the info. What is wrong with opening the
published version and deleting all the info from it and pasting from the
mpp file? It's pretty tacky, but I tried it out of desparation and it seems
to have worked. I was going to have to delete the project anyway. (there is
about 1700 tasks in the poject)

You will need to delete your published project without deleting its WSS
subweb, import the new .mpp file into the Project Server database, and then
connect the old WSS subweb with the new project. To do this, refer to the
following FAQ:

http://www.projectserverexperts.com/Shared Documents/DeleteProjectWithoutSubweb.htm

Hope this helps.

Do so only at your own risk. You have a screwed up project and you want to
copy and paste into it? The procedure I outlined will work for you just
fine, so why don't you use it?

I did it before you responded. My way is quicker but the results might be
bad ! I am not really up to speed on the tech jargon, I'm an old "Fortran"
type guy trying to learn database technology. "hacker"
I gues I should take the time to RTFM but I have't found any time lately -
I also find local quality help non-existent (Mobile, Alabama). If you know
anyone who can help me through Terminal Services or over the internet please
let me know.
I have a pretty good sysadmin locally but MS Project and sharepoint are so
new I have to tell them how it works before thay can even help me.

Thanks for your help - it is very appreciated.!
