Overwriting a published Project

I have a project 'Foo' in Project Server. The Project file is 'Published'; however, it is very out-of-date and I have another Project file that I need to upload in place of the existing Project file. When I try to do this using the Import Projects Wizard I get this error
You cannot overwrite the default version (Published) of a project
To save this project, type a new project name or save the project as a version other than the default

The version drop-down on the Wizard lists only 'Published' (the default

Is there a way to do this or do I need to delete the Project in project server? If I do that will I lose all the other Project Server information about the project? e.g. Issues, Risks, SharePoint site

Thanks

You must delete the project in the Project Server database to solve your
problem, but before you do so, save it as an .mpp file first so that you
have a backup of the original project. Then delete only the project from
the Project Server database and DO NOT select the option to delete the
SharePoint site as well. Import the new version of the project into the
Project Server database, then go to the SharePoint administration site.
Delete the SharePoint site for the new project and attach the old project's
SharePoint site to the new project. Hope this helps.
