Overwriting WordXP with Office2000

I just purchased a new laptop with WordXP and Works pre-installed. I
have a previous copy (license) of Office2000 Premium that I want to
install. Should I 'uninstall' the WordXP and Works before installing
the Office2000 Suite?

What happens if I do a custom install of Offic2000, and install
everything EXCEPT Word2000. Will the existing version of WordXP work?
or will it have problems since the core office dll's are from 2000?

Can I do a full install of Office2000, and then re-install WordXP only?
Any suggestions appreciated...

It would probably be better to have the vanilla Office 2000 in its entireity
if you want Office automation (mail merges, send to from Office programs,
using Word as the mail editor in Outlook.) I am sure you can leave Works on
there but remove Word 2002.
