OWA Issues on Macs With New Server

R

Rebecca

We recently replaced our Exchange server with an upgraded, new one. We went
from Windows 2000 server to Windows 2003 Server for the OS, but Exchange has
always been 2003.

Outlook on PCs and Entourage on Macs work fine. OWA on PCs works fine.
However, when users login to OWA on Macs (And, they can login to it fine...)
the following two things happen:

1.) They have to click on everything twice (not a double click but two
single clicks) for it to open. If just one click, it will go about 10-15
minutes and then open, but 2 clicks makes whatever it is open right away.
(For anything, opening a new mail messages, pulling down a menu, clicking on
a folder to change the view - anything...)

2.) Whenever they click on something within a message - opening it,
replying, forwarding, deleting...it asks them to reauthenticate to the server.

Again, this only happens with Mac users using Safari as the browser. PC
user's logging into OWA don't experience any of these problems.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

What version of Safari?? The Panther one or the Tiger one ?? I sure
don't see that on mine (Tiger).

Well, the users having the problems are using Tiger. The problem doesn't
occur using Firefox on a Mac.

Keep in mind that you wouldn't experience this problem unless you were on
our network - this problem didn't exist with our old server - just when we
put the new one in place, so it seems to be some setting on the server that
needs to be fixed, not something necessarily with the Macs themselves...

Thanks.

I see... Any chance it could be a resolving issue?? Is the server on the
same IP as before ? I've seen funky tings like that in Safari (though I
never quite understood them).

I've run into the same problem except that since we have a host name
mismatch on the SSL certificate, you can't even get into OWA with Safari.
Firefox works though.

Ouch.. it could indeed be a denial of service due to certificate issues.
Entourage uses the X509 anchors in the system - just as Safari does.
