OWC Slowness and Windows XP Home Edition

P

Patrice Dargenton

Hi all,
Writing the value of a cell is very slow using Windows XP Home Edition : 30
seconds to fill a spreadsheet while the same application using Windows XP
Professional Edition is immediate : Does anybody have an idea of what make a
difference between the professional and the home edition for OWC ?
Note : When I debug my application (using Windows XP Home Edition), to find
which function is slow, this is as fast as professional Edition !

Both systems are up to date (except OWC), and application runs on the same
version of components :
ADO version : [2.8]
OWC version : [9.0.0.3821]
Framework .Net version : [1.1.4322.2032]

Thanks.

Is it free of charge ? For the past ten years, I did only submit one bug
with success, but it never worked again... I think there was many bugs or it
was not free.

Ok, I have a better solution rather than to pay for debugging a MS product :
I will notice this bug on my personal website, that is recommended by
Microsoft France (VBXL) : may be a guy from Microsoft will find a solution
one day :
www.microsoft.com/france/msdn/office/
http://patrice.dargenton.free.fr/divers/vbxl.html

In fact, this bug is no correlated with the Home Edition of XP : I have
tried my software onto another Home Edition system, and the bug did not
occurred.

Thanks.

this maybe a long shot....

I read long time ago from somewhere about slow OWC 11 spreadsheet on certain
Dell PC with certain graphic card. Once that graphic card is replaced,
performance becomes normal.

This may not apply to you at all - just a try.
