OWC : What does view-only functionality mean?

Hi,

We are creating a data-analyzing application using OWC PivotTables and
charts connecting to cubes on an Analysis Server 2000. The users have Office
2000 on their computers.

My question is if the users can use Office XP Web Components, even if they
don't have an Office XP installation? The download page for Office XP Web
Components states the following:

"The Office Web Components tool provides view-only functionality for users
who do not have Office XP installed. By installing this tool, users can view
published components and data access pages on the Web without having to
install Office XP. Note: If you do not own an Office XP license, the Office
Web Components will run with view-only functionality rather than with full
interactive functionality. (Data access pages do not require an Office XP
license, so you will always be able to take advantage of a page's full
interactive functionality.)"

The question is what "view-only" functionality and "data access pages"
means? The users shall be able to do the following:
- create pivot-tables and charts using a direct-connection to the
analysis-server. .
- Exporting pivot-tables to Excel.
- Extracting the XMLData for both PivotTable and chart to save in a
database.

Can that be achieved using OWC10 if the users have Office2000?

The "view only " functionality means the non-interactive functionality. You
will be able to display the data using the OWC but the users will not be
able to interact with the components. This was explained in detail in the
KB article Q555075 : Office Web Component (O.W.C.) licensing however,
this KB is temperorily out of the public database.

Yes, you can achieve the functionality you mentioned in the email.
