OWC10 and Office 2003...yet another compatibility issue

Hi MVP's

well, despite reading every thread on this issue, I am still hitting the
proverbial brick wall:

I have installed the OWC10 off the 2003 CD, after uninstalling the previous
version.

The pivot table object will not work at all, nor will the chart object -
but only when trying to attach to OLAP data sources.

the error I get is "activeX component can't create object" - produced when I
attempt to connect the object to the datasource.

using the SDK samples, the error comes back with "Error in connecting to
database.... Automation Server can't create object".

I have reinstalled MDAC (2.8) and the scripting engine (5.6), and I know the
datasources are present and operating.

any ideas?

well... I solved it.... but the solution is a concern that MS should review:

solution: re-register the DLL!

.... even though the items are in the registry, even though it was
re-installed from scratch, even though the objects appeared on the page....
this was the only way to get them to work!
