OWC9, 10 & 11 development issues

Hi

I have created an intranet portal with PivotTables & PivotCharts. I created
the reports using MS Frontpage v2000 (OWC10). I have now updated all of the
pages with Frontpage 2003 (OWC11). Several problems have occurred:

1. Windows 2000/Office 2000 users get a message "Missing: Office Web
Components" even if they have OCW files installed. I have them install
OWC10, but it still doesn't resolve the problem.

2. Windows 2000/Office 2003 users get "Query not processed: Timeout" even
with a connect timeout of 600 in the connection string.

3. Windows XP/Office 2003 get no problem

I am connecting to a SQL Server 2000 on a separate server.

Please advise how I should proceed and which version I should offer.

THANKS! Elise

AFAIK, OWC versions come with MS Office versions. Office 2000 has OWC 9,
while Office 2003 has OWC 10 & 11, and there're differences (and thus
compatibility issues) between version 9 and 10 & 11.
In all my apps, since I can't control what Office versions the users
installed, I check for the installed version and use the right OWC version.
Your problems may actually come from the uses of different versions at
different clients.

Problems:

MS Frontpage v2000 (OWC10).
Office 2000 ISN'T OWC10 in any way, shape or form. It is OWC 9.

Win2k vs WinXP (with Office 2003) thing-- you sure you have run the Office
Service Pack?

Win2k with Office 2000 - you are talking about having them install OWC 10;
when 9 is what shipped with Office 2000 and 11 is the OWC 2003 that you were
planning to use.

So:

1 - I would standardize desktops with OWC 11 - 2003
2 - if you can't upgrade your Office 2000 machines to 2003; i would find out
who can
3 - use Frontpage 2003 as a development platform.
