Pack and Go PowerPoint 2003

Hello There,

I am using Windows XP, and MS Office 2003 standard.

I have attempted to Pack and Go 3 powerpoint presentations, PresA,
PresB, and PresC.

Each of these presentations has objects, like circles, boxes, text,
etc.

PresA last slide has a link (aka hyperlink) to PresB, and PresB links
to PresC, and PresC
links to PresA.

When I go through the File/Pack and Go process, select the files, etc
I choose to write the files created to a folder.

I then run the play.bat file (which would autorun if on CD, etc) and
PresA opens, but it is missing some objects! Like the ballons or
boxes are there, but the text is missing.
This holds true for each presentation. The link and show fine in NOT
run in the play.bat mode. If I run in Slideshow mode they link and
show fine.

I can take these same 3 files, and perform the same process on a
machine running Office
2007, the whole process (Package for CD) runs perfect! All slides
link, and all objects show.

Any clue what I might be missing in terms of the Office 2003 side? I
have tried the process (Office PPT 2003) with the same files on
different computers, and see the same problem of missing text or
object.

Thanks,

I would love to see these files, eholz1. I've seen similar issues with Pack
and Go in PPT 2007, but not in PPT 2003.

I don't know that I'll have a fix for you, but I'm happy to look at them.
You can zip the three files and send them via http://www.yousendit.com My
email address is echos at indy dot net.

Manny, Moe, Jack and Jack goes back to Manny

Thanks.

This isn't the problem I thought it was, but I do have a fix for you. :)

If you "round trip" your files through HTML, it often weeds out the
woollies. That's the case here. Follow these instructions on each of your
files, then re-do the Package for CD just as you were.

Well, crud. I can't find the "round trip" tutorial on pptworkbench.com right
now. Here's what you do:

1. Open PPT.
2. Open Manny.ppt
3. File | Save As.
4. In the "save as type" dropdown, choose Web Page (*.htm/*.html) and save
5. Close the file
6. In PPT, choose File | Open
7. Navigate to Manny.HTM and open it
8. File | Save As
9. You may need to change the file type to "Presentation (*.PPT)" in the
"save as type" dropdown
10. Save Manny.PPT

Do this for Moe and Jack, then open Manny.PPT and File | Package for CD as
you were doing.

I'd do this on a copy of your files, just in case.

Here's the information from the PPT FAQ, which points to the
instructions at PPT Workbench:
