Pack and Go pp1. file

Hi Can someone tell me what the purpose of the pp1 file is when using Pack
and Go in PP2k. It appears to be created on one of our machines, but not on
another?

Thanks

pp 1 file? (is that a one or an "L"?)

Pack and Go should create two files: a pngsetup.exe file, and a
<filename>.ppz file. Could it be that pp 1 is the file name, and so the file
is really "pp 1.ppz" ? http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00164.htm explains
a bit better.

You might have to turn off hidden file extensions to see the final
extension. Here's how (from http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00034.htm)

a.. Double-click My Computer
b.. Choose Tools, Folder Options from the menu bar of the "My Computer"
window
c.. Click the View tab
d.. Scroll down a bit and remove the check mark next to "Hide extensions
for known file types"
e.. Make sure the other options are set the way you want them for all
folders on you computer
f.. Click "Apply to all folders"

Oh, wait. I bet that's pp~1.ppz (pp<tilde><one>), which is what Pack and Go
does when it unpacks long file names. It shortens long file names, and you
end up with a file name like that -- with a tilde and a number, usually a
one.

Oh, wait again. I did a pack and go, and now I see you're referring to the
*.PP1 file -- where the file name is actually the same as the PPZ file, but
it has a PP1 extension. So when I packed and went here, I got pngsetup.exe,
pres0.ppz and pres0.pp1 I deleted the *.PP1 file to see what would happen,
and my PPZ unpacked just fine. I opened the pres0.pp1 file in notepad, but I
wasn't able to discern anything from the contents.

FWIW, I've never noticed such a file being created before, and I've no idea
why it would be now! But I think you can probably not worry about it.

No when I run P&G on a w2k machine it creates a pngsetup.exe, a pres0.ppz
and a pres0.pp1 (one) file. I just wondered what the last file was for.
