Pack and Go Wizard -- and Other Related Topics

Hi,

Thank you so much, David M. Marcovitz and Sonia, for answering my questions
regarding Pack and Go Wizard -- and other related topics -- in my 7/30 post
so thoroughly! The one thing that seems very apparent is that linked files
should be in a folder with the PowerPoint presentation that they are linked
to, whether Pack and Go Wizard is used or not. I am in a situation in which I
am using a computer at a local community college to design a presentation and
my computer at home to save the information. Since becoming strict about
using folders, I have run into no problems with links becoming unlinked!

Although I am saving all of your suggestions for future uses, for now I have
decided to use a different method due to budget constraints and the need to
give the briefest directions possible to the folks to whom I will be sending
my presentation. In so doing, I used much of what you have taught me to make
such decisions. I have decided to have two different versions in two
different folders without using Pack and Go Wizard. Since I think most folks
are using more updated versions, I will be first sending them my version
2002-2004 presentation. If they need the older version, I will send them my
version 2001 presentation.

Since my Entourage program forces me to use the zip feature when trying to
send a folder, I have tried removing the two files -- the PowerPoint
presentation and pdf -- from the folder and sending them that way. I tested
it by e-mailing it to one of my other e-mail addresses, and the link did not
unlink! So, I guess at the final stages of a project, removing the files from
the folder is OK.

I saved the PowerPoint presentation with fonts embedded, so at the least I
would get the benefit of the feature that I so admired in Pack and Go Wizard
without having to use the wizard. I made the file into a read-only just in
case a few folks do not know about the option to alter Read-only status.

Thanks again!
