Pack&Go error on executing linked .avi

A

Andrew1973

I am running XP using Powerpoint 2000.

I have created a PPT with some linked avi files. Pack & Go works fin
and I can open the presentation by excuting the PNGSETUP.EXE howeve
when selecting the Icon to play the video clip I recieve the messag
"Media Player can not open this file.Either access to this file i
denied or the file is open by another application"

The clips work fine in the origional PPT and i have ensured that al
files are in the same folder

I have tried closing down all applications and executing th
PNGSETUP.EXE on the same machine as well as copying both file t
another completely seperate machine. I have also tried to imbed the AV
files into the PPT (ie not as a link) but this doesnt work either.

I have read all the posts on this site but nothing seems to help.

Anybody have any suggestions???

cheers - Andre

First test the AVI in MCI Media Player, which is what PPT uses to play
AVIs and is the program the error message is referring to.

Go to Start/Run and type in mplay32.exe Does the AVI play there? I'm
betting it doesn't. :)

If it indeed does not, head to
http://www.soniacoleman.com/Tutorials/PowerPoint/multimedia.htm and use
the screenshots in section 3 to compare to your own registry. See if
making your registry entries match those helps.
