Pack n Go feature

Q

quillhat

Publisher 2003 works great on newly purchased computer
with XP Pro, except when I use PacknGo feature to
commercial printing service, I don't get my publication
packed, but a file with a .puz extension! I am quite
befuddled. Any assistance out there?

quillhat,

That is the extension name that a packed Publisher file uses (unless if the
Pack and Go Wizard splits up a large publication between two or more disks,
the .puz extension for the packed publication will change to .pu1 for the
second file in the series, .pu2 for the third, and so on.).

Once you take the packed publication to another computer that has Publisher
2002/2003, you will be able to double click on the *.puz file and have it
unpack and open in Publisher.

If you have any further questions, please post back.

Actually I think Publisher 2003 should create at least three files -
packed01.puz, readme.txt and unpack.exe. You need to take both the
packed01.puz (and any other .puz files if there are any) and the unpack.exe
to another computer, then double click the unpack.exe to unpack the
publication. Then you can double click the unpacked publication to open it
in Publisher. I don't think double clicking the packed01.puz file will do
anything.

My bad Jeff. I did mean double click on the *.exe file, not the *.puz. And
yes, 3 files would be the minimum unless spanning across multiple mediums.
Iin addition, it will change the name of your file to namePNG.pub (where
name is your original file name).
