If you just packaged to My Documents, you probably didn't realize that the
Package to Folder also gives you a bunch of PPT Viewer files to include on
the CD.
And so, if you just burned the resulting presentation to the CD, when you
open that presentation, it's running from PPT, not from the PPT Viewer. And
that's why the screen tips are fine. (I'm still not sure about the
hyperlinks, though.)
Or perhaps you didn't have the options to include the Viewer selected when
you packaged?
What you should do is create a folder in My Documents or even directly on
your C drive. Name it, oh, Test. Then package your PPT file to the Test
folder. (This isn't mandatory, because PPT will create a folder based on
what you typed in in the "CD name" box in the Package for CD dialog. But
just to make sure you're looking at the right stuff, packaging to a specific
Test folder would be a good idea.) Make sure you hit the Options button in
the Package for CD dialog box and specify to include the Viewer and linked
files. You might want to specify to embed the fonts there also.
After you package to the test folder, you should see your presentation, any
linked files (sounds, PDFs, whatever), PPTView.EXE, a bunch of DLL files, a
play.BAT file, an autorun.INF file, and some other miscellaneous stuff. Burn
all those files to the CD. Don't put them in a folder, just burn them
"loose" on the CD. That will create a CD that autoruns like you want.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by playing the cd automatically for the
folder -- do you mean you want to put a folder on the CD and put all the
files inside that? Even if you do that, it won't resolve the problems with
screen tips -- that's a limitation of the PPT Viewer. And hyperlink warnings
should occur whether you're using the Viewer or the full PowerPoint program
itself.

I am trying to package a presentation to a CD-RW, although the E drive
registers that a cd is in the drive, it will not copy the files
across.
It
is very important that the cd's (or any form of data storage device) i
distribute are re-writable as this will save a lot of time when additional
information is created.
Can anyone help me please?
