Page break not showing

T

Thomas Scheiderich

I am just starting to use Word 2003 and found that the program doesn't seem
to show where the page break is. In Word 97, it would show where the page
breaks were as I was typing.

Is there an option to have it behave this way?

I just printed a document that I thought was on one page, and it printed 2
pages.

Thanks,

Tom

Word will show the page breaks when you tell Word to do this. Menu:
Tools/Options, Tab: View, Section: Formatting Marks. Turn on "all" and
view in Normal or Print Layout format.

Also, before printing, do a Print Preview, or note the number of pages
shown at the bottom of the Word screen.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

Formatting marks also shows line breaks, tabs etc.

I don't really want that.

Print Layout format works in 97 also (although, in 2003 - the font seems to
change to a larger bolder font, even the same font shows in the toolbar).

But in 97, in normal view, it would show a small dotted line between the
lines where the page break is supposed to be. Isn't their an option to do
this in 2003?

Thanks,

Tom.

Hi Thomas,

The dotted line for possible page breaks in Normal view
are still there in Word 2003. See if adjusting the
Zoom to say 150% makes it visible. It may be that its
very faint or fine lined with your monitor. It isn't
as pronounced as in earlier versions.

If the font in Normal view is different then check the
'draft font' settiong in
Tools=>Options=>Edit. PrintLayout view is closer to
'as will print' appearance than 'Normal' (draft) view.

For Word specific questions you may also want to use the
