and she prints it.....the paged will come up
1 or 1
or 2 of 2

instead of 1 of 3 or 1 of 5

if there is way for me to resolve this issue

With Word 97, the best way to do this is with fields.

Where the "page number" is supposed to go, use
Insert >> Field >> Numbering >> Page

Where the " document page count" is supposed to go, use
Insert >> Field >> Document information >> NumPages

Before printing,
Edit >> Select all
And hit the F9 function key. This updates the values of all the fields.
(Field values don't update themselves automatically as you type.)
