I just got a Mac a few months ago and am still getting used to it. I
use Microsoft Word for Mac and ran into a problem tonight while
writing a paper for grad school. For some reason Word is beginning me
on page 2 everytime I open a new document and I have attempted
everything under the sun to try and switch it to recognize page 1 as a
starting point. Please help!

Hi Andrew:

Go into Format>Document and check ‹ I think you will find that your "Section
starts on..." is set to "Even Page".

That would mean that every document would start on Page 2 instead of Page 1.
Change it to "Odd page".

Look up "Sections" in the Help for more...

Cheers

Hello Andrew,

Not to answer this one -- already answered -- but if you're new to Word 2004
you might like to look at some notes on the way I use Word for the Mac,
titled "Bend Word to Your Will", which are available as a free download from
the Word MVPs' website
(http://word.mvps.org/Mac/Bend/BendWordToYourWill.html).

[Note: "Bend Word to your will" is designed to be used electronically and
most subjects are self-contained dictionary-style entries. If you decide to
read more widely than the item I've referred to, it's important to read the
front end of the document -- especially pages 3 and 5 -- so you can select
some Word settings that will allow you to use the document effectively.]
