I want to lay out some pages in the style of the English publishers Dorling Kindersley. I want the text to wrap around and weave amongst photographs (I'm the arty type). If you go to amazon.com, search Dorling Kindersley, and have a look inside #4 'The Human Body' (or any of their Eyewitness series) - that's the effect I'm after. Go Barack!

That type of work is not done in a word processing program - at least not if
you want pro quality output. That's especially true if you intend to
generate output for commercial printing. Although Word 2008 has a Publishing
Layout feature you'll not get that type of result. You need a full-featured
page layout program (such as Adobe InDesign) and quite possibly a quality
graphics program as well.
