Page numbe in second sheet still 1

I am using excel 2003, I have a document with 2 sheets, i have selected in
the footer to show page numbers. However when I select to print the entire
work book, the page number on the first sheet is 1, as well as the second
sheet? Why is this? I made sure that the beginning page was 'Auto' under
page setup. Now, here is the other part it doesn't happen all the time, but
only now and then?

Please help.
