The Page number in the status bar should nearly always be different to the
page number shown on the page.
The figure in the status bar is the "sheet number" in the file.
The page number may be adjusted to account for the presence of various
things such as title pages and front matter. The page number can be 20
pages different from the status bar sheet number, in the first file of a
book.
If you want them to be the same, the first place to look is the Section
Properties. Look up "Section Break" in the Help. If the Section break is
set to "New Page", Word will aim the print job at the first sheet out of the
printer, and the Status Bar and the Page Number should agree with each
other.
There are several other places you can look. Some people use field codes to
calculate offsets for their page numbers. Post back if you need help with
these.
Cheers
In a several page document, when I go to the very first page, the status bar
says Page 2. When I scroll down to the second page, the status bar says: pg. 3
etc. How can I fix that?
When I want to print the pages with page numbers at the bottom, I believe it
is going to go by what page number is in the staus bar which is one page off.
