Page Number Insert Error

Attempted to use the insert page number function in Word 2007 -- the menu for
"Bottom of Page" opens a large diagram box with various style options. The
box opened with names but no examples and the entire application froze at
this point. How can I solve this problem?
Thanks

Exit Word and then delete the Building Blocks.dotx template. When restarting
Word, does it work again?

I have the same problem, my word 2007 crash when I try to insert page numbers
from the dropdown menu, and when I try to change font type, also by using the
drop down, and when i close a document.

1. I have tried deleting the Building Block.dotx, and that did not help.
2. I have tried to disable add in, which did nothing.
3. I have tried deleting the data and options folder in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Office/12.0/Word, and still nothing.

Any ideas?

Possibly an incompatible or corrupt printer driver. Check that your printer
driver is the latest available and then delete and reinstall the printer.

Hi David,

If you hold the ctrl key while starting Word do you get the same result in a new document?

Do you get the same problem using any of the other galleries
PageLayout=>Themes
Insert=>Cover Page
for example?

Can you use Insert=>Quickparts=>Building Blocks Organizer ?

Have you run Office diagnostics
Office Button=>Word Options=>Resources?

===========
ok. That did not help. Anything else I can try?

Hey Bob,

My comp has been down due to technical difficalties. I have just tried
everything you suggested, and everything works to the letter, even in an
normel opened doc.

Maybe it was fixed in a patch. I thank you for the attention.

Oops,

I was a little to fast. Changing the font still causes a crash. The
diagnostics came back with nothing.

I noticed that everytime I ask word to change something, like the font, it
starts contacting printer. I am connected to a wifi network, and it is a
virtual printer I have, and there is no other printer installed.

Could this be an issue?
