Page Number - Make Continue from Previous the default.

Thanks Daiya

I think you've got it.

I did have a small initial section (TOC etc) then restarted at one (Using
Clive Huggan's great template).

I would have hoped that when I went back (after creating many more sections)
to the start of section 2 and changed page numbering to "continue from
previous" the succeeding sections would have taken the hint seeing that the
header has been set as "Same as previous" all along!

I'd like to avoid section breaks, but it seems to be the only way to force a
break to an odd numbered page which is something I need before each Level 1
Heading.

Thanks for your help.

Hmmm.... "continue from previous" is the default here. (Word 2004, OS
10.3.9)

Is this the default in every new doc on your machine, or just this one doc?

A little testing suggests that in an existing doc, Word uses as default
whatever the previous section was, when inserting a section. So (I think),
let's say you did your pages i-iv intro, new section 2 restarting at 1,
created lots of new sections--they all picked up that "restart at 1"
setting.

But if you had typed the intro, created the sections, then went back and set
Section 2 to restart at 1, I think the rest would have been set to "continue
from previous". Or if you had switched Section 3 right away, creation of
section 4 forward would have picked it up, I think.

Hi Don:

You haven't forgotten that Word inherits section properties from the section
break FOLLOWING the text, not the one preceding it, have you?

Or maybe you have forgotten that the default section break hidden beneath
the last paragraph at the end of the document contains all of the default
properties that are inherited throughout the document, including this one
:)

Yes, I do know where Kaikohe is: now -- do YOU know where Kaeo is? :)
(Folks, we're talking major metropolis here...)

Cheers

Thanks Daiya
