Page numbering and Continuous Breaks

Is there any relationships between inserting continuous breaks and page
numbering?

I inserted 2 continuous breaks, then, page number got screwed. Now there
are two page 2 like page 1, 2, 2, instead page 1, 2, 3.

Why does this happen? How to fix it? Please help me.

I could change the second 2 by changing a setting from 'continuous' to
'start from 2.' Is it the correct way to fix it?

Thanks for you help

No, you want all the numbering to "Continue from previous section," and the
problem is being caused by a "Start at" setting in a section inaccessible
from the header/footer. Assuming that you have a section in the middle of
the page (or possibly at the top of the page if your page number is in the
footer or at the bottom with a page number in the header), place the
insertion point in that section and use Insert | Page Numbers | Format to
change the setting. Be sure to click Close rather than OK to close the Page
Numbers dialog so as not to get an extra page number field.

Thanks and don't understand, sorry.

Yes, the section break in questions are at the 1/3 of the page. The original
doc is a 24 pages but it can be 3 page doc that is consisting like,

-First page has section 1, 2. (#1 is 1 column, #2 is 2 columns)
-Second page has section 2,3,4,5 (continued #2 from page 1, #3 is 3 columns,
$4 is 1 column, #5 is 2 columns -- I tend to believe the number of columns
has nothing to do with my problem but to be acurate.)
-Third page has section 5. (continued section #5 from page 2.)

Page numbers appear 1, 2, 2. When I take out section #3 and #4, the problem
disappears and comes out 1, 2, 3.

What you are suggesting is to put insertion point between sections #3 and
#4, right? And, Insert>Page number...>continuous from>OK>close.

I did it but nothing changed. ???

Thx

If the problem is not solved when you correct the numbering in a given
section, then try another section until you have got them all continuous.
