I have a doc on A4 landscape written on two columns.
I would have two page numbers per A4 (i.e. one page number
per column on each page: first half A4 numbered 1, second
half numbered 2, and so on).

|---------------------------|
| | |
| | |
| column 1 | column 2 |
| | |
| | |
| | |
| | |
| pag 1 | pag 2 |
|-------------------------- |

But I'm unable to do so.
Thanks for any help.

Bruno,

You can nest your page number fields in calculation fields. So on the left hand side of the page you would use:
{ = ({ PAGE } * 2) - 1 }
And on the right hand page you would use:
{ = { PAGE } * 2 }

Please note, if new to working with field codes, you cannot create a field by manually typing the braces {}. To insert a new empty pair of field braces, use Ctrl + F9, then type then field code inside of them. Experiment with it and post back if you're having trouble making it work.

Regards,
Chad

Although http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/Print2Pages.htm will tell you
what you want to know, if you're trying to set up a booklet, see

Thank you Suzanne and Chad DeMeyer too.
I solved my problem having Word2003 capable of making booklet.

Just another related question:
How can I tell my printer (HP LaserJet 4000) not to
print blank pages?
Is the instruction related to Word or to the Printer?

Thanks again

Blank pages where?

In the mean time I've given a look at your discussion
about the object in your personal site.
The matter is now very clear as far as the source (Word, Access, etc)
is concerned.
It remains a question: whether it is possible or not to tell the
printer not to print blank pages. overriding any source considerations.

Not really, no. If you're taking your booklet to a commercial printer, he
may need those blank pages (I've seen printers get very confused if they
don't have a sheet of paper for every page to be printed). Or, if you're
photocopying the booklet yourself, you will need them to duplex properly.

After reading at your site it's clear enough the problem of Word
sometimes creating necessry blank pages and the fact they are
also necessary when going to print, and so on.
Forget this story now.
Generally speaking it remains the question: can I instruct my
printer not to print blank pages?
This problem is related now to Access in which I created a report
to print A3 as 2xA4. I have the first A4 blank, the second as cover
page and then couples of A4 (each couple is an A3 of course).
To make the things going I must print the second page on, discarding
the first one which is blank.
Hence, if I could tell the printer not to print blank pages I could avoid
to tell her (the printer) to print from the second page on.

I regret I'm completely OT now.

Sorry, I must outline that I'm printing under Access double side,
otherwise the problem doesn't exist.

The cover should be page 1. The blank ganged with it would be the blank last
page of your booklet. For example, if the booklet were 8 pages long, you
would have:

8 and 1
2 and 7
6 and 3
4 and 5

If 8 is blank, then that is your blank page.

Sorry.
Due to my poor english I'm unable to explain my problem.
What you say is more then clear to me, but it is not the matter.

Hope we'll have another opportunity.
