page numbering error

Hi,

I did mail merger to create labels from Excel db. The labels' size was
1"X 2.63". That set a page margin of 1/2" on top and 0" on the bottom.
After I added "page x of Y" some strange thing happened:

1. Since there is no room for footer (0" margin at the bottom) I added
the "page x of Y' to the header. It recognized the total # of pages
(3) but each page was 1 of 3.

2. I changed the margin at the bottom and added the "page x of Y" to
the footer. The last group of labels moved to a separate page. Total #
of pages became 6 and the numbering were: page 1 of 6
page 2 of 6

Can Someone help me to number the pages correctly without spliting
each page to 2?

Use the { SECTION } field in place of the { PAGE }. Each page of labels is
a new section and hence each one is numbered page 1.

I am not sure why you would want page numbers on labels though.

The objective is to first print it on regular paper for various people
to view and then to print the labels. The Page or section # is
important for the initial list not for the labels.
Is there another way to get the listing in a format of labels but not
one page per section, so I can number them "page x of y"?
if not,
Is there any way to format page number to be "continue from previous
section" for the ENTIRE document (it seems to take effect only on one
section at a time) ?

the labels' definition does not leave room for footer and once I add a
footer for numbering the last group of labels move to page2 of the
same section.
I tried to modify the labels' definition and change the count (how
many labels to fit vertically on one page) from 9 to 8 so technicaly I
have room for footer. What happened was that I still got 9 labels
verticaly but the 9th row repeated on the next section.

It is frustrating !!!

Just use the {SECTION} field in place of the {PAGE} field and your "pages"
will be numbered correctly.

Is there a way to get the total # of sections so I can have the
numbers in the format of " x of y" ?

Also, I can't manage to get space for footer without spliting the
section to 2 pages. Whenever I add footer at least 1 or 2 rows of
labels move to page 2 of the section even if the page margin leave
space at the bottom. Can you help?

Thanks

The { NUMPAGES } field should give you that. So you need Page { SECTION }
of { NUMPAGES } Pages to get Page x of y Pages.

{ NUMPAGES } gives the total number of pages in the document and is not
affected by the presence of Sections. There is a { SECTIONPAGES } field
that gives the number of pages in each Section if you ever need it.
