Page numbering in Word 2000

Hello all,

I'm working on a 70 page document in Word 2000. I have set
up page numbers to alternate sides for this document.
However, on page 18 it stops putting the page numbers on
any even pages. Therefore, I only have page numbers every
second page for most of the document. The page numbers do
go consecutively after that, such as 19, 21, 23, and so
on... but I'm confused as to this sudden change. I've
tried re-doing page numbers, but it does exactly the same
thing. Could it be because of some copying and pasting I
did to put the document together in the first place?
Please help, I'm losing my sanity over this!

Thanks. :)

When your footers are set to have different footers on odd and even pages,
you do need to manually enter the {PAGE} field in both the Odd Footer and
the Even Footer. View Headers/Footers to see what is really going on, use
that toolbar to insert the page number. It sounds as though you have a
section break, and no page number was inserted in the Even Footer for
Section 2. Setting that footer to Same as Previous may also solve your
problem, assuming you want the footer to be the same across sections.

You have a lot more control to do things like this if you go to the
Header/Footer instead of using the Insert | Page Number dialog, which also
puts the page number in a frame which can cause problems. You may want to
delete the old page numbers, especially if there is a little box around
them.
