Page numbering in Word 2002

Help! I have a 190 page document in Word that has auto page numbering and
then auto table of contents. For some reason at P152 it jumps to P222. I
figured it might be a page break thing (plus there are floating text boxes in
certain places and when I move the nearest one it gets worse) but moving them
doesn't seem to help at all!

Any ideas?

Thanks

Ben

This can happen only if the document contains section breaks. Almost
certainly, you have restarted numbering somewhere. Place the insertion point
on page "222" and View | Header and Footer. On the Header and Footer
toolbar, choose Format Page Number and ensure it is set to "Continue from
previous section."

It won't be affected by floating text boxes. There are two main
possibilities.

The first and most likely is that there is a section break at the point
where the number jumps, and the section after the break has a page number
restart. Look at the document in Normal view, or use the Find command to
search for the code ^b to find the section break. If you find one there, put
the cursor just after the break and go to the Insert > Page Numbers > Format
dialog. If the Start At option is selected, change it to "Continue from
previous section". Click OK and then Close (not the OK button here, because
that would insert a page number).

If you don't find a section break, or if it already continues numbering from
the previous section, then the second possibility is that the document is
corrupted. See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/CorruptDoc.htm.
