Page Numbering Needs to Ignore First 3 Pages

In Word 2002, we have a 10 page document. Pages 1, 2, and 3 should
not be numbered, and page 4 should be numbered as Page 1. I inserted
a section break at the bottom of page 3 and on page 4, I inserted a
footer, unset Same As Previous and inserted a page number. It is
numbered as page 4, seeming to ignore the section break. Can anyone
tell me how to do this?

TIA,
JD

You've done everything right except for one thing. On the Header and Footer
toolbar, click the Format Page Number button and choose Start at 1.

Hi JD,

You can also do it without resorting to section breaks, using a field coded
as:
{IF{={PAGE}<4}= 1"" {={PAGE}-3}}
in your header or footer.

This works find unless you need a TOC, in which case the TOC will pick up
the "raw" (not the calculated) page number.
