I have a 23 page documents with several pages containg two
columns. There are section breaks in pages that have two
columns. I have page number inserted in the header
using "#". I have set the headers to be "same as
previous" and page number format is "continus from
previous section". Yet the page number is mesed up. For
example page #5 appears as Page #2 in the header. I have
checked and double checked and it is driving me nuts. Can
anyone help, please!!

If you have different odd and even page headers or different first pag
headers, this can affect all that.

Rule to remember: Same as previous means the same as the previou
section header or footer OF THE SAME TYPE.

So, if you're trying to get the first page header of section 4 to b
the same as the (regular) header of section 3, then your section break
are in the wrong place, or you have set it up for different odd/even o
different first page, and it shouldn't be

Both different first page and Odd/Even are "Unchecked"
Yet the page number is starting over. I do not know what
the right place is for section breaks. The ones I have
are at the top of the page. I have one to go from columns
to no columns. At this point I have the title that spans
the width of the page. Then I have a section break to go
back to two columns. If I change the section breaks the
text in the columns become unbalanced.

Any insights please?

Delete the section breaks, make sure that numbering is set to "Continue from
previous section," then reinsert the section breaks.
