page numbering within sections

Is it possible to show "page 2 of 85" within one section and then in the next
section have the pages show"page 5 of 52" ? I am typing a long running
document that will have 4 sections in it. Section 1 happens to have onliy
two pages in it, so on page 2 I want it to show "page 2 of 2"; in Section 2,
I want page 2 to show "page 2 of 52" which is the overall number of pages in
that section. I have not finished typing Sections 3 and 4, however, starting
with page 2 of those sections, I want them to reflect the total number of
pages, as well. I can get the numbering to start at "2" within each section,
however, it will only show "2 of 102" which signifies the total number of
pages typed in all 4 sections combined thus far.
Can anyone help me?!

Thank you! Your link was very helpful and I got the page numbering in the
footer to work out, however, then I noticed that it had completely changed my
elaborate header and had placed a "-1-" on the first page of each section.
Not sure what I did wrong.

I had already deleted the copy I made just in case I screwed things up when
I tried to work out the page numbering before I noticed the header change.
Now I've got to go back and try to recreate my very involved tabulated
heading.

Any idea what I might have done wrong?

No idea what you might have done wrong. I always find working with heading
and footers to be a fickle experience. They are short of like the music
sheet of an old player piano where the one page rolls to the next and the end
rolls to the beginning. It can be frustrating. All I can suggest is to make
sure that your page setup is correct (i.e., Diff first page, even, odd) and
you have unlinked headers and footers from one section to the next as
appropriate.
