Page numbering wrong in Word 2000 shows 1(1), 2(2) etc.

Dear all,

I wonder if anyone has a fix to the following problem in Word 2000:
I start page numbering with 1, goes way up to some end value. I also
insert the number of pages beside the current page number.
It should show 1(4) 2(4) 3(4) and finally 4(4).
but it shows 1(1) 2(2) 3(3) and 4(4). Yes I´ve checked quite a few
times with the insert header/footer numbbering tools.
Machine win nt4 Office 2000 Premium.

TIA
Matti

I am suffering the same issue. Word 2000, running Win2K,
everything patched up and up to date.
Anyone got any ideas? Thanks...

Yes: look at the response to the original post. Same issue, same solution.

If something doesn't make sense, it could be worse e.g.
