page numbering

On long documents, I like to number pages in the footnote as "1 of 5" but
can't seem to do it. All I get is "1" "2" etc. Can someone tell me how to
do "1 of 5" ? Thank you. Eileen

Eileen,

You can manually insert field codes {Page} of {NumPages}
where the brackets are inserted with CTRL+F9 or use the
AutoText menu in the Header and Footer Toolbar to insert
the Page X of Page Y.

Note there is a problem with this feature in some
versions. See:

you have to put it in the footer itself.
i.e. go to VIEW, select HEADER/FOOTER
go to the footer section, hit the INSERT AUTO TEXT button,
and you will see the choice of "PAGE X OF Y", I beleive at
the bottom of the list of your choices.
That's it.

Eileen, I forgot to mention to use Alt F9 again to toggle
the field codes back to Off.
