Page numbers and styles

I created NewStyle 1 and I am using it instead of Heading 1. I have the toc
reading correctly now I can't get the page numbers to cooperate. I want the
chapter and page number to show. I know that it wants me to show the chapter
as Heading 1 but its not... it's NewStyle 1. How do I tell it to reflect the
NewStyle 1 in the page number?
Thank you

Hi tkacoo

You probably don't want to hear this, but there's only one way to get the
page numbering showing chapter and page number, and that's to use the
built-in heading styles. This is, of course, what you have already
discovered.

See the following for more details:
I want to include the chapter number with the page number in the Header -
how can I do this?

and

Why use Microsoft Word's built-in heading styles?

Hope this helps.

Thanks Shauna. I just can't believe that no one has found a work-around
this. I appreciate your response and by the way... you have a great website.
It is very informative.

You can change the defaults on the Table of Contents - When you insert it,
click on options - delete the numbers by the defaults and add a "1" to your
style.
